Weekend Horror Movie Wrap-Up

Re-Watches:

Halloween 4 — Probably the best of the sequels, but still a terrible Halloween sequel

Hellraiser — Second viewing.  Hated it the first time; however, it definitely has more intelligence than I gave it credit for.  Only complaint: the first 3/4 is a fable, the last fourth sells out to horror schlock.

First Viewings:

Nightbreed — my favorite of everything so far. A horror fable eat up with creativity and great make-up.

The Fly — Yet another fable, strangely. Good movie, but a one-and-done type for me.

Night of the Creeps — Not bad enough to be funny; not clever enough to be entertaining.  Positive: not pretentious.

The Stuff — Another not-so-clever one… actually, it’s mostly dumb; the kind of movie that will do absolutely anything to get to the next scene. I paused it 20 minutes from the end and never finished it.

Monkey Shines — Watching this for the HDTGM episode next week. Still watching… it’s started very slow.

Before the night’s up, will either watch Hellraiser 2 or Halloween 3

Also, changed things up with Ghostbusters last night.  It’s still perfect, by the way.

Nightbreed

Just discovered this gem and was fortunate that my first viewing was the newly released director’s cut.

Seriously, more folks need to see this!

Curious that we spend more time congratulating people who have succeeded than encouraging people who have not.
